In an effort to reduce garbage and preserve vital resources the California State Assembly is making yet another move towards a complete ban on single use plastic bags across the state. This effort would match similar plastic bag bans in various California cities.

From a story on LAist.com:

SB 405 “would phase out single-use plastic bags in California grocery stores, convenience stores, liquor stores, and pharmacies,” according to Padilla.

“SB 405 will help protect our environment by phasing out single-use plastic bags in California. Single-use plastic bags fill our landfills, clog inland waterways, litter our coastline, and kill thousands of fish, marine mammals and seabirds,” said Senator Alex Padilla in a release posted to his site.

If passed, the ban would take effect January 1, 2015 at grocery stores and pharmacies. In July 2016, convenience stores and liquor stores would be required to meet the same standard. SB 405 would not pre-empt local ordinances already in place governing limitations on single-use plastic bags.

The proposed legislation made progress Wednesday, when the Senate Environmental Quality Committee today approved the bill. The bill remains pending in the Senate Appropriations Committee.

I’ve long been a big proponent of using reusable grocery bags to limit trash and clutter. Using reusable grocery bag also help protect our natural resources and limit our oil consumption. So if you haven’t invested in reusable grocery bags yet, time to do so.

When you hear the term “junk removal” you tend to think of common every day problems, like the old couch you need to get rid of or of that leftover construction debris laying around your backyard. But look up a bit and you will find a growing junk problem: Space junk.

Space junk is a growing problem for both NASA and private space agencies that launch satellites into space. Space junk is basically the leftovers from 50 years of space exploration. Ideally, space junk eventually burns up in Earth’s atmosphere. But a lot of space junk doesn’t lose orbit and instead remains a threat to satellites and space craft.

But according to Huffington Post one company is thinking about space junk removal:

Continued:

The most technically and politically sound idea is a simple rendezvous mission, during which a clean-up craft would travel to and de-orbit debris objects one at a time, Missel said. But such a mission would burn loads of fuel to get between widely spaced targets, making it “fatally plagued by inefficiency,” he added.

The 4S system, which Missel and Mortari are developing, aims to correct this fatal flaw. It would snare debris at the end of a spinning satellite, then fling the object down to burn up in Earth’s atmosphere.

The spacecraft would harness the momentum exchanged during both of these actions to cruise over to the next piece of space junk on its list, minimizing fuel use and extending its operational life to the point that such a mission might be practical.

Work on 4S this year includes looks at hardware options, Mortari said, and further optimization of the idea.

Green Clean Junk Removal Service is keeping its feet firmly planted on terra firma for now. But maybe some day we’ll look towards the stars.

Sadly, Green Clean Junk Removal Services has seen several tragic hoarding situations. Hoarding left unchecked can be dangerous for everyone involved. A hoarder can literally get buried alive under a mound of trash and junk. In other cases, a hoarder can fall ill and become trapped inside their home. And, in cases like the one in Houston, a hoarder’s house can become a fire trap, ready to burn.

If you know of someone struggling with hoarding, please encourage them to seek professional help. Green Clean Junk Removal Services can help. Our hoarder junk removal service can clean up after a hoarder and help a hoarder regain control of their lives, but without proper follow up treatment and counseling, a person with a hoarding disorder may return to their old ways.

Green Clean Junk Removal handles just about any type of clean out. We clean out houses, garages, storage units, and when spring rolls around our backyard clean out services proves to be one of the most popular clean out services. For whatever reason backyards turn into junk storage bins faster than almost any other area of the house. And sooner or later that junk filled backyard turns into a junk filled nightmare.

This last Monday we completed a backyard clean out for home in Santa Clarita. In the homeowner’s defense it wasn’t her junk. She had called Green Clean Junk Removal to help her clean up a recent foreclosure she had bought. Green Clean Junk Removal hauled away about two truck loads from her backyard alone. Leftover wood construction debris, a rusty swing set, and a couple barrels of trash. After we finished our backyard clean out our client thanked us profusely for helping her get rid of all that junk and making a her new backyard a safe area for her kids to play.

That is really what we do at Green Clean Junk Removal Services. We help people live better, happier and cleaner lives.

Before the advent of junk removal services, like Green Clean Junk Removal Services, the only way to clear out a large amount of trash, rubbish, or garbage from a house was to rent a dumpster. Dumpster rental is still popular but in most cases dumpster rental is simply the wrong choice.

In Los Angeles and New York City dumpster rental is tightly regulated. In almost every section of Los Angeles, for instance, a person cannot put a dumpster on the street without a costly permit. In certain neighborhoods in Los Angeles you won’t be able to rent a dumpster at all unless its from a city’s sanctioned waste management company (these are called franchised areas). These dumpster can be very very pricey and still require you to do all your own junk removal.

Using a junk removal service cuts through all this red tape. Green Clean Junk Removal Services comes to your house with a truck and two guys. Our junk removal pros dispose of the junk you want gone and haul it away. We do all the work and we handle all the disposal.

Green Clean Junk Removal Services spares you the headaches of dumpster rental and the labor of cleaning up.
