Worst Case Scenario: Hoarding a Cautionary Tale

Worst Case Scenario: Hoarding a Cautionary Tale

This is a tragic story about the way hoarding can destroy lives and properties. From ABC 13 in Houston, Texas:

A large fire struck a house this afternoon in northwest Houston.

Firefighters think the fire started in the attic, but because of all the items inside they couldn’t get to the source of the fire. We’re told the residence on Moorberry was a hoarder’s house which made fighting the fire more difficult. At one point, firefighters had to pull out of the house and fight it from the outside.

No one was hurt but the house was destroyed.

Sadly, Green Clean Junk Removal Services has seen several tragic hoarding situations. Hoarding left unchecked can be dangerous for everyone involved. A hoarder can literally get buried alive under a mound of trash and junk. In other cases, a hoarder can fall ill and become trapped inside their home. And, in cases like the one in Houston, a hoarder’s house can become a fire trap, ready to burn.

If you know of someone struggling with hoarding, please encourage them to seek professional help. Green Clean Junk Removal Services can help. Our hoarder junk removal service can clean up after a hoarder and help a hoarder regain control of their lives, but without proper follow up treatment and counseling, a person with a hoarding disorder may return to their old ways.
